Pitch 2-5 :MiCAN will accelerate infectious disease research through special cells created with regenerative medicine technology

Excuse the cliché, but regarding preventive medicine technology, research is truly power. The growth of this market is attributed to the adoption of advanced technology and development of preventive measures, including vaccines, screening and monitoring devices, and smart devices, to reduce medical errors.

MiCAN Technologies is a start-up company established in 2016 that focuses on preventative medicine technology, blood cell, and infectious disease. Their research finding has helped overcome a major hurdle in terms of being able to produce enough of these cells to have a potential therapeutic impact both in the lab and, down the line, in patients. Its first product is special red blood cell intended towards research on malaria. Another product developed by MiCAN is special white blood cell for virus research, i.e., developing dengue vaccine in collaboration with universities.

MiCAN Technologies focuses on special human blood cell for research based on the principle of differentiation. In typical preparation method, a barrier exists in differentiation levels; however, this shortcoming has been overcome by the recent research where development of both synchronized and homogeneous cells are prepared and accomplished simultaneously. The innovative product from MiCAN is also a preferred option over house-made cells that are of high cost, with short expiry date and difficulty in repeatability.
