Yasumichi Hitoshi is CEO at Thyas Co. Ltd, Kyoto (2017~), where he directs R&D activities for adoptive immunotherapy with induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived immune cells for the treatment of cancers. He has expertise in immunology, oncology, cell therapy and drug development. Earlier in his career, he gained extensive experience in small molecule drug development for cancers and metabolic diseases at Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc., California, U.S.A (1998~2016), and worked as an assistant professor in Kumamoto University School of Medicine (1991~1992) and Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo (1992~1995). He received MD at Kumamoto University School of Medicine, Kumamoto (1987), Japan and his Ph.D. in Immunology from Kumamoto University (1991). He has completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University (1995~1998).
