祝辞/Congratulatory Address

Dr. Dan Wang, MD, MBA, MPH,
Head, Asia Pacific, Johnson & Johnson INNOVATION

"Mina San. Kon Nichi Wa" (Hello everyone). It is an honor to be here today to continue our proud history of being a partner and sponsor of HVC Kyoto, and it's great to finally be here with you after what has been a challenging year. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank KRP for inviting Johnson & Johnson to attend the event as the 5th year in a row!
A few months back, I spoke to you all about the changes that we have seen this year and I reflected that although the pandemic has brought with it many challenges and difficulties, it has also brought opportunity.
It has been inspiring to see that despite living in uncertain times, the entire industry has come together and worked closely to continue to accelerate innovative, game-changing healthcare solutions.
Events like this are exactly what we need to keep this drive going and remind us of the significant contribution that start-ups and venture capitalists make in advancing innovation for the benefit of communities and patients not only in Japan, but worldwide.
We know that there is a lot of great science in Japan and we see many of you creating breakthrough solutions every day by taking risks, pushing barriers - all to find transformational solutions.
At Johnson & Johnson Innovation, we are all about creating strong networks of people who can combine resources, ideas and technologies, because we know that transforming ideas into commercially viable healthcare solutions isn't easy.
To succeed, we all need partners. And that's where we come in.
As some of you are familiar, our Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific Innovation Center has offices in Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore. We are committed to supporting innovation in Japan by providing innovators access to our global resources and expertise in science and commercialization.
And across the region, we have been working to build relationships with individuals just like yourselves - the entrepreneurs who are developing early-stage innovative solutions across pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer sectors.
That's why I'm excited to be here today.
We are looking for transformative ideas - the ones that have the potential to make a huge difference to people's lives, where the need is big, and the science differentiated from others in the market.
I look forward to meeting you all later today to hear your exciting ideas, and how you envision the future in solving some of greatest healthcare needs in Japan and around the world.
Thank you.
